CHARMIN SPENCER

Founder and CEO

Charmin Spencer is the Founder of The Sleeping Prince Foundation. She founded this organization in 2011 after experiencing the unexpected loss of her Son Prince Charles Jeremiah Spencer. As Charmin laid in the hospital Charmin realized there is a need to support families who suffer such a difficult loss especially during the holidays. Her experience with the NICU started back in 2004 Charmin spent everyday for 3 months at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital with her daughter Paradise who was a micropreemie born at 25 weeks gestation. In her role as founder and CEO her core focus is to provide resources and holiday hope to families with similar experiences to her.
Possessing a limitless capacity for others, Charmin is a YMCA Black and Latino Achiever – 2011, a former Toyota Navigo Career Coach to high school students interested in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) careers.
A consensus leader, Charmin takes pride in her holistic, inclusive approach. She is a 2015 graduate of the Urban League’s African American Leadership Development Program – Class of XXII. A favorite quote: "Nothing will work unless you do" – Maya Angelou.
Charmin graduated from Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Charmin and her husband Jason, have 4 wonderful children, Paradise, Jasmin, Charles, and Jason II.

LATISSUE BUTLER

Nurse Liaison

Latissue Butler a born native of Columbia,SC and currently residing in Lexington, SC. I am a single mother of two young women ages 17 and 12 years old. I have survived many trails throughout my life which lead me to become a Register Nurse in 2015. As a Nurse I have worked to be of service in many areas within my field such as oncology, surgical nursing, hospice, Intensive care and currently dialysis nurse Manager. In my many roles as a nurse I see all types of patients but by far the hardest are the little people aka babies. Many nurses seek to make a difference but you never know the toll it could take watching such young lives fight for a spot into this world. Because I not only experienced my own losses, I also empathize with this mission. I am excited to be a board member of the Sleeping Prince Foundation and I hope that by assisting one of my best friends with honoring the memory of her beloved Prince. That we can help inspire others who have gone through similar situation to not only cope with their loss/pain, that we can also inspire people to continue to pour into one another through experiences and giving of oneself.
